IT in Public Transport:
Developing new travel info services and bringing them to the customer.
The Danish Travel Plan is an excellent example of improved information to the customers, and its services are constantly developing with the aim of delivering still more relevant and upda-ted info.
Information relevant to the travelling public is being developed at an amazing pace by many individuals and organisations during these years, many actors are taking part, and new opportunities are developing constantly.
In earlier times, the transport companies would develop everything ourselves and distribute through their own dedicated, controlled channels.
But now new developments are taking place in many different entities and on many different platforms; dedicated travel planners, specific operators, authorities, Google ect.
Come and join the Danish Society of Transport Economics & members at the it-meeting of the millennium :-)

How do we take the most advantage of ITS development in the transport sector ?
Geoffroy de Wilde will give his views and take part in a debate on these issues. Geoffroy is responsible for the strategy and business development at the operator in Brussels, Belgium, and has with his background in the mobile phone development sector a deep knowledge of the area and an open mind of how to embrace rather than shun new and possibly different approaches to new development and customer orientation in the PT sector.
By Geoffroy de Wilde d’Estmael, Directeur des Etudes Générales et Stratégiques-Directeur Algemene en Strategische Studies, STIB-MIVB
10.15:
Mobile Applications and Open Innovation
- and what it could mean to public transport in Denmark
Recently a wealth of mobile applications ('apps') has enabled travellers to be much more informed before and during their journeys, through provision of personalised, updated and coherent traveller information. In particular, Rejseplanen and many operators have provided apps that are widely used.
But it is difficult for the individual organisations to keep up with constantly meeting the users' requirements for additional functionality and for support of the increasing flux of new smart phones.
Søren Have, PA Consulting Group, will describe how Open Innovation can help overcoming this hurdle, as well as accelerating the current positive development even further. And possibly even also enable brand new business models within passenger transport?

Cases from DSB on apps and sms for sales and distribution
DSB is experiencing a rapidly growing need from customers to have access to information, planning and purchasing – anytime and anywhere – from the favorit personal platform on the cellphone.
This opens up new ways to access and understand the market, and provides a much deeper and differentiated understanding of the customers and their preferred method of entering the market.
At the same time the businessmodel also must develop in order to support dif-ferent products and different solutions for different groups of customers.
Anne Mette Koch will speak on the many different ways DSB is meeting the customer today and the experiences so far, we will also hear about possible new ways to happy customers.

11.25:
Better services through open data and crowd sourcing?
Rejseplanen (the Danish National Journey Planner) are providing an open API for third party development and are providing data to external services such as Google Maps / Transit. This however is a result of a long process and many considerations and reflections about the challenges / opportunities in opening up access to data.
Jonas Ask Homaa will share these thoughts, talk about how this can help focus Rejseplanen's own development and how crowd sourcing can be used in both "external" development and "internal" development.
